Italian trumpeter Andrea Giuffredi is known as a master of the trumpet and a true virtuoso. How His Journey Began

The musician was born in Parma, Italy. His parents weren’t musicians. He was mostly inspired by the trumpet sound on a Pérez Prado album, which he heard on his father’s CD. His path as an artist took shape when he was nine years old and began studying the trumpet. His mates preferred saxophones, but Andrea was frightened by so many keys so he chose a trumpet with only three valves.

His first experience at the Parma Conservatory was challenging as he did not pass the admission exams. His second teacher at this conservatory considered his position not academic enough and totally changed it making it impossible for Andrea to play at all. 

His teacher Ennio Guidetti encouraged to play in the position, which Andrea preferred. Giuffredi developed his skills through long-tone practice and a high level of discipline. As a 14-year-old teenager, he entered the Piacenza Conservatory. By the age of 17 Andrea was already a part of the RAI Milan Symphony.

Collaborations and Further Career Highlights

By this time, his career has lasted for over two decades, featuring many achievements and trumpet playing at the most famous concert halls and festivals. Andrea Giuffredi performed as principal trumpet player in outstanding Italian orchestras, including  RAI orchestras of Milan and Turin, the Arturo Toscanini Symphony of Parma, the renowned Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and the Teatro Comunale of Florence. During this period he collaborated with many legendary conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa, and George Prêtre. Artists he has collaborated with include legendary names such as Luciano Pavarotti, Ennio Morricone, Liza Minnelli, and more.

Andrea Giuffredi is praised for his distinct singing trumpet style that earned him loud ovations and five-star reviews from critics. In addition to a career as a symphony orchestra principal, the musician likes to play jazz and performs as a soloist.

He holds masterclasses and clinics at prestigious institutions throughout cities of North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.  Since 1993, he has been a professor at the University Civic School of Milan Claudio Abbado, where he inspires younger trumpeters and shares his skills and experience with them. 

During his classes, he discusses trumpet technique, corrects common playing issues, teaches the Italian Bel Canto style, digs deeper into orchestral repertoire as well as contemporary, pop and jazz styles. He devotes time to discussing psychological aspects of performance and stage presence. 

Andrea Giuffredi is also known for his popular video series Play with Me, which reached 60 million views and earned him a large global following. With his free step-by-step tutorials the musician helps other trumpet enthusiasts and players get more joy from the learning process. In his series he regularly shares practical tips and his creative strategies aimed at quick skill development.
