The Multifaceted Music World of Sebastian Studnitzky
Sebastian Studnitzky is a German jazz trumpeter, pianist and composer, the son of German conductor and composer Norbert Studnitzky. He demonstrates a captivating diversity in music, blending different genres and exploring new possibilities. In this article, we will have a look at the creative journey of this talented musician.

Beginning
Sebastian started his journey as a musician at the age of four by learning to play the piano. At the age of eight, he also began mastering the trumpet. Later he was enriching his knowledge and got deeper into mastering these two instruments in the Jazz & Pop department at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. Sebastian also received a scholarship to study film music and commercial arranging at the Berklee College of Music in the United States.
It’s All About Curiosity
As a musician Studnitzky combines different musical worlds and offers new meanings for a wider audience. He plays jazz, classical and electronic music and successfully combines virtuoso piano playing with his voice-like trumpet style. Sebastian explains his active involvement in various projects by his curiosity. He believes that it’s diversity that keeps him moving forward and exploring his possibilities.
His style features a perfect balance of timeless and contemporary vibes. Although his music seems to be quite minimalistic, it still bears a deep emotional and personal imprint. With each project Sebastian offers listeners a unique experience. In MEMENTO where the musician combines his Jazz trio with string quartets or big orchestras, listeners can live through unique orchestral experience, while the KY! allows for delving into a more multifaceted music with many layers and diverse sounds with electronic vibes.

Collaborations
There are many great collaborations that proved Sebastian’s excellence as a performer. He played with Nils Landgren, Wolfgang Haffner, and Rebekka Bakken, the Mezzoforte, Edo Zanki, Laith al Deen, Jazzanova, Dominic Miller, and other talented people.
Studnitzky performs his own works touring across different cities and countries sharing the stage with Sandie Wollasch, Michael Paucker, and Tommy Baldu, Studnitzky/Trio, Memento, Paul Kleber, Tim Sarhan, and Laurenz Karsten.
He also created a duo with pianist Omer Klein, offering the audience music that features both Klein's and Studnitzky's compositions as well as covers of their favorite artists’ tunes. As a pianist, he collaborated with clarinetist Sebastian Manz, with whom they worked on "A Bernstein Story" in New York City. Sebastian also collaborated with one of the leading Ukrainian pianists — Andriy Pokaz. Together they explored their musical possibilities across jazz, classical and electronica.

Sebastian Studnitzky and His Support to Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Studnitzky has actively supported the Ukrainian people. During 2024–2025 he made a series of charity concerts called Memento Odesa. This project was specially created by Studnytsky as a modern-classical dedication to the city of Odesa and its citizens. He recorded his music in July 2023 at the Odessa Philharmonic together with the Odessa Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Volodymyr Dykyi.
Sebastian’s project Memento Odesa features deeply emotional music filled with the memories of the past, the fragility of the present and anxiety for the future — everything is dedicated to people who were forced to live under constant fire. The project was a pure charity — all funds raised went towards tactical medicine for Ukrainian defenders.

During his charity tour, Sebastian also visited Kyiv and Lviv.
The musician is currently working on a new KY! album , aspiring from the close bond with the Odesa Philharmonic through the Memento Odesa concerts in Ukraine and Germany. It’s expected to blend jazz, classical and cinematic elements.
