Our reptile leather valve guards fit trumpets of various finishes, including lacquer, raw brass, and silver. Keep in mind that when using the valve protector with raw brass and silver finishes, it’s recommended to remove the accessory after playing sessions. It's necessary to let the valve guard dry and let the instrument breathe. Otherwise, moisture may accumulate in and under the protector, leading to damage to the instrument’s finish.
As our trumpet valve guards are made of genuine leather, their lifetime is 5-10 years, and it totally depends on how often and intensely musicians use them. Over time the accessory can wear out, with some areas doing it faster than others. Worn-out accessories can’t provide high-level protection, so it’s better to replace them with new ones once they start losing their attractive appearance.
Although genuine leather looks appealing itself, you can always make the valve protector more personal by requesting embossed initials, names or full names (up to 20 English symbols) on its surface.
